Home based in the Outer Banks NC, but always on the go to somewhere tropical, Steph is a woman of the world. Currently in Puerto Rico for some months, living the island life and shooting content for conscious brands such as Faithfull the Brand, Triangle and Cooke & Kin. Steph is a natural beauty, make up and hair specialist, content creator and photographer all at once.
Tell us a little about how you got your IG taking off into being a full time content creator and beauty expert?
I’ve always loved photography, fashion, and beauty and wanted to work on set shooting campaigns or magazines. I love the smaller town beach life though so I had to find a way to create it all on my own with what I have. It’s taken a few years and a lot of hard work, passion, and persistance to get where I’m at and I’m looking forward to what’s next.
As a beauty expert, what is your favourite beauty routine during travels?
I like to keep it simple when traveling with just a little face oil, eye cream, and SPF. I always try to simplify everything when traveling.
What items do you definitely pack into your suitcases for an overseas job or holiday to the tropics?
Loads of film and cameras :) a lot of basic pieces that I can style multiple ways, and my skin care essentials. I like to pack simple and leave room in my suitcase to bring things home.
What is your favourite holiday outfit?
A bikini and a linen shirt or sarong. Love anything that feels effortless and easy.
Sunrise or Sundown?
Sunrise has always been my favourite. Especially when I’m back home watching it over the ocean. There’s just something extra special about it.
Coffee or Coconuts?
Coffee! My morning coffee is one of my favourite parts of the day.
How would you describe your favourite stay/hotel when going on a holiday to a tropical destination?
Something that is very peaceful and quiet. It has to feel private and low key. I love to hear the sounds of the jungle or ocean. I’m a big lover of architecture and design so always finding places that I can swoon over and be surrounded by beauty the whole trip. Always looking for inspiration for my future home.
You travel on a regular base and have been to several destinations already. What is your favourite destination to go shooting branded work?
That’s a hard one! Every place is so beautiful and unique in its own way. Puerto Rico definitely has a special place in my heart since we have spent so much time here. There are so many places that I still want to go. Australia is big on my list.
What do you enjoy most when being on work/holiday?
Discovering new places, experiencing new culture, finding authentic food to the area. Soaking it all in and taking what I learn home with me is the best part of it all.
How do you weave sustainability into your travelling habits?
There are many little ways we try to practice sustainability while traveling. We try to stay at eco resorts as much as possible that use green energy or don’t use any plastic etc. We always try to support local businesses, restaurants, markets, shops, etc. instead of going to anything large chain owned. We respect and learn about the land and environment so we don’t cause any damage or harm. There are so many more little things we all can do that make a huge impact!
Favourite sunset drink?
Mezcal margaritas!
How do you unwind after a long day of content creation abroad?
Some nights it’s simply watching the sunset and walking the beach. Other nights a movie night and cooking a lovely meal. Other nights, mezcal margaritas!
